Military theories are thoughts explaining how armed forces to be used achieve objectives. These often influenced by emotions, yet the influence of emotions on military theory-crafting remains underexplored. This article fills gap exploring awe influences theorising. Awe is an emotion associated with feeling transcendence. Several theorists felt that way about technologies air power, nuclear power and cyber respectively. Consequently, their became narrowly focused, technocentric detached from previous history. Understanding these tendencies can help improve theorising in future.
